Sacrifices of Praise

Hebrews
13:9-16

SACRIFICES OF PRAISE

In the Old Testament you would bring a sacrificial lamb for the cleansing of your sins. Does God still require sacrifices? God no longer demands animal sacrifices as the blood of Jesus Christ has been shed once for all sin. Yet, God does require a sacrifice. It is a sacrifice of praise. Praise gives your inward attitude an outward expression. Praise should be on the fruit of our lips continually. Praise is a fruit that grows all the time for the child of God. It is good to give thanks to God for what He has done. It takes your focus off yourself and your problems. It puts your focus on the Lord. Praise will change you from the inside out. What is in your heart will hit your lips! Here are three reasons to offer sacrifices of praise.

1. His Grace

Grace stabilises us. We have the unmerited favour of God. We ought to be on our way to hell but God has given us a ticket to get into heaven. We can praise God for His Grace as it ensures we get into Heaven. Grace saves you and it sustains you. We are to grow in God's grace every day. See 2 Peter 3:18. What is so exciting about His Grace?

- Grace is a gift from the Lord
- Grace is God's riches
- Grace is my assurance. There is more Grace than there is sin.
- Grace is my comfort
- Grace is my excitement

2. He is Good

See Psalm 100:4-5. The Lord is good and we can praise him. It doesn't matter if you get sick or lose your job. God is still good. God's goodness is far greater than my ability to understand. There are some things we can understand but we can understand that God is always good. God will use everything for good. See Romans 8:28.

3. His Glory

See Psalm 50:23. God's glory is his overwhelming presence and there is no one like him. You can't dig deep down enough or climb high enough to comprehend God's glory. He desires the glory as he created the Universe and sustains it all. See Romans 15:6. There is to be glory in the church. See Psalm 29:2. Give God the glory that is due unto his name. When Isaiah saw the Lord in Isaiah 6:3 he fell on his face. The world is full of God's glory. We can see it in the animals, plants, oceans, mountains, planets and stars. Offer the sacrifices of praise now for his grace, goodness and glory. If not here, then you will in Heaven - forever.
