PROBLEM SOLVING

How are your problem solving skills. There are times in life when we can't easily solve the problem ourselves.

1. A problem (vs 1)

The city of Jericho was tightly shut up and no one went out and no one came in. There was a physical wall around the city. There was no way for the Israelites to bring the walls down - on their own. They thought it was impossible to get the walls down and therefore improbable that they could win the war.

2. A promise (vs 2)

God has already solved the problem. Joshua's faith is being tested. God promises to deliver Jericho into their hands.

He had delivered Jericho into their hands - In God's mind it was already done. We must hold onto the promises rather than explainations. Joshua had to take God at his word. We need to do the same. Nothing is impossible to God.
He had delivered the people into their hands - God was promising more than entry into Jericho. The king and army within were ready to be defeated.

3. A presence (vs 3-5)

It seems ridiculous to walk around the walls of the city and shout. It seems too easy. The ARk showed God's presence in the midst of the people. It is God who makes the difference.

Victory is in God's hands. It is God who sets up and pulls down kings and kingdoms.
They and we must attribute the glory to God. Strongholds can be pulled down in our lives when we have God's presence and we trust and obey Him. We love to talk but do we want to pray?

4. Lessons learnt

You can't hide from God - He can break through any wall or man-made structure. The people of Jericho were found out.
God can solve any problem no matter how daunting. With man things are impossible but with God all things are possible.
God is looking for spiritual qualities from us as we face the problems, What are they?

- Perseverance
