| How do we know that the Bible is complete, and that items have not been ommitted thru the years due to influences from kings and popes personal views? Such as the Gospels of Thomas and Judas? | The Da Vinci Code book and film has popularised the notion that the Bible is not complete. See articles on web site. The Old Testament has largely been confirmed by the discover of the Dead Sea Scrolls which are dated to around 100 years BEFORE Christ. The New Testament has many thousands of copies of manuscripts which date back to the first century AD. The contents of the Bible were confirmed at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. to counter heresies. The gospels of Thomas and Judas are a few of the many books written long after the time of Christ and thus rejected from the New Testament. | The bible speaks of inner beauty and not outward appearances. are we as women doing sinful things by coloring and perming our hair and wearing makeup? | We can't take a single verse out of context and either misapply it or dismiss it. We've got to look at the principle behind it. The Bible certainly has a lot to say about the importance of modesty. Out of respect for our brothers and sisters in Christ, we don't want to do anything that will cause others to stumble.
The Scriptures remind us that our outward appearance should not be a distraction from what's most important—who we are inside. True beauty comes from within (1 Pet. 3:3-4). | 2006-10-31 |
